Tip Osterthaler

Mr. Robert Tipton (Tip) Osterthaler is the President and CEO of AMERICOM Government Services. AMERICOM Government Services, Inc. (AGS) is an independent corporation and wholly owned subsidiary of SES AMERICOM. With more than 30-years of experience in the government SATCOM market and direct access to the 36-satellite fleet of SES Global, AGS offers comprehensive satellite-based communications solutions that provide federal agencies access to secure broadband communications to fulfill both mission-critical and routine needs.
From 1998 until 2006, Tip was with Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), where he was until 2005 an Operation Manager within the Strategies Business Unit. This 500-person, $100 million organization provided policy, strategy, planning and operations support to defense and other U.S. government clients and also included a number of major international programs. More recently, Tip was Senior Vice President and Deputy General Manager of the Strategies, Simulation and Training Business Unit, a $450 million organization which provides government and commercial clients with high-level staff support as well as modeling, simulation and training solutions.
Prior to joining SAIC, Tip served in the U.S. Air Force for 28 years, retiring as Brigadier General and Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for European and NATO Policy. Prior to moving to the Pentagon in 1994, he was Vice Commander of the Air Intelligence Agency. Earlier assignments included duty as the Air Operations Planner for the US Delegation to NATO in Brussels, Belgium and numerous command and senior staff postings. In 1987-1988, he commanded the 33rd Tactical Fighter Training Squadron at Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico, and in 1990-1991, he commanded the 35th Fighter Wing at Sheik Isa Air Base Bahrain and George Air Force Base, California. Mr. Osterthaler is a Command Pilot, accumulating over 3,200 hours of flying time in fighter aircraft including multiple models of the F-4 Phantom II and the F-15 Eagle.
Tip holds a bachelor's of science in Economics from the U.S. Air Force Academy and a master’s of business administration from Texas A&M University.
