CONTINUITY OF GOVERNMENT: NETWORK SOLUTIONS IN PEACE AND CRISIS
8:45 am - 5:30 pm
Sponsored by World Teleport Association and Global VSAT Forum
As the U.S. and other nations have grappled with terrorist attacks and natural disasters in the homeland, they have come to grips with the vital role of communications in maintaining continuity of government. Our networked society depends on a continuous flow of digital communications for everything from public safety and security to paying the bills and keeping the lights on. Satellite plays a critical role in maintaining that flow, particularly in times of crisis or catastrophe, because of its unique flexibility, portability and survivability. The first day of ISCe 2008 is dedicated to exploring satellite's fast-growing place in local, state and federal efforts to ensure continuity of government.

Key assumptions turn out to be unfounded and unnoticed weaknesses in the chain are suddenly revealed. That's when improvisation, based on sharp skills and deep experience, can save the day.
