Dr. Marv Langston

Combining 34 years of public service and six years of private sector service, Marv brings a broad background to his customers, where he provides consulting services for leadership, enterprise architecture and engineering, project management, and organizational strategy.

In private industry, Marv has served as the COO of a small high-tech start-up, CTO of a large business practice, led large corporation IT transformation, initiated account management practices to unify customer trust relationships, and helped rebuild troubled system development programs.

In government Marv began as an Enlisted Nuclear Submarine technician in 1966 and retired as a Combat Systems Engineering Duty Officer in 1988. He then joined JHU Applied Physics Lab supporting Navy and Missile Defense. In 1994 Marv rejoined government and served as the DASN C4I, Navy's first CIO, DARPA Information Systems Director, and finally as the DoD Deputy CIO, where he successfully initiated the GIG, started the PKI CAC card, and led the Defense Department through the Y2K transformation. In these positions, he spearheaded the measured reform necessary to enhance both mission and business processes and earned the Government Computer Week magazine Executive of the Year award in 1999.

Marv's technical background began as a Navy technician maintaining nuclear power, communication, radar, and data systems. His education includes BSEE (Electronic Engineering) Purdue, 1973; MSEE (Electronic Engineering) Naval Post Graduate School, 1978; Program Management Course DSMC, 1981; MPA (Public Administration) USC, 1993; and DPA (Public Administration) USC 1994.
