Dr. Robert Frueholz is the General Manager of the Communications and Networking Division of The Aerospace Corporation. His organization is responsible for supplying expertise across the full range of communications and networking technologies and system architectures to the many customers of The Aerospace Corporation.

From 1978 to 1979, Dr. Frueholz was a Post-doctoral Research Fellow at The Aerospace Corporation performing a variety of laser spectroscopic studies. In 1979, Dr. Frueholz joined Aerospace in a permanent position as a Member of the Technical Staff in the Chemistry and Physics Laboratory. In 1983, Dr. Frueholz received The Aerospace Corporation's President's Award for Scientific achievement for his contributions to improving the reliability of rubidium atomic clocks used for satellite applications. Holding a series of progressively more responsible management positions, Dr. Frueholz became in 1996 Principal Director of the Electronics Technology Center, an organization addressing photonics and electro-optics, microelectronics, and energy systems. He assumed responsibility for the Communication Systems Subdivision in 1999 becoming its Principal Director. In 2006, Dr. Frueholz was appointed General Manager of the newly formed Communications and Networking Division.

Dr. Frueholz is a member of the AIAA, the IEEE, and the American Physical Society. He holds a B.S. degree in chemistry from Harvey Mudd College. His graduate studies in chemical physics were performed at the California Institute of Technology where he received a Ph.D. Over the course of his career, he has published over 50 articles in peer-reviewed journals and has made numerous conference presentations. In 2002, he served on the Committee for an Assessment of Precise Time and Time Interval Science and Technology chartered by the National Research Council of the National Academies. In 2006 he served as the Technical Program Chair for the 24th AIAA International Communications Satellite Systems Conference.
